Starbucks reopens at the Wailea Marriott Resort. Closed for 6 weeks during renovation, the coffee shop is now open with a fresh new look and more seating.

Set against a contemporary Hawaiian motif, the all-suite hotel consists of studio, one and two bedroom offerings. Each suite boasts spacious living zones and fully equipped kitchens. The upscale furnishings; deluxe bedding; flat screen TVs; functional work surfaces, and generous lanais (balconies) that open to a views of the ocean or mountainside — all provide the comfort and flexibility for guests to feel at home in paradise.

This free concert series will feature big-name musicians, such as Hōkū Zuttermeister on Aug. 17, Paula Fuga on Sept. 21, Kamaka Kukona on Oct. 19, Keali’i Reichel on Nov. 16, and Nāpua Greig on Dec. 21.

There’s a certain time of year, though, when those red carpets are more star-studded than usual. A week when international celebrities find themselves in a theatrical venue lit by the Maui moon. This standing celebration hosted each June is, of course, the Maui Film Festival. Hear about what the festival holds in store and one is instantly compelled to make reservations for next year’s event so they can commune, as I did, with the stars.

While Humuhumunukunukuapua‘a is a mouthful to say, the showcase restaurant at the Grand Wailea is one of the most popular on Maui and rightly so. Award-winning Chef Michael Lofaro has crafted an easy to navigate exceptional menu of the most extraordinary appetizers (called pupus in Hawaii) , entrees and desserts. Like this Examiner, most people who visit Maui regularly put a dinner at Humu (easier to say) on their dining list. In addition to the pleasing the palate the sensory seaside setting surrounded by a lagoon is just about as romantic as it gets.

The 17th Annual Maui Film Festival took place June 15-19, 2016 in Wailea, Hawaii and the Island was abuzz with all things Film. In addition to honoring Viola Davis and Bryan Cranston for the year’s Navigator Awards, Michael Jordan took home the Rainmaker.
